The King is determined to cut costs within the Royal Family

King Charles "thought his brother was having a laugh" over an expense claim of £32K for a yoga instructor according to a source.

Prince Andrew had submitted the £32,000 annual yoga fees to the privy purse expecting it to get the green light.

However, King Charles has told his brother that the monarchy will no longer pay the bill for the live-in yoga instructor.

Prince Andrew has been using the yoga teacher for several years, and the male guru comes to live with him in the Royal Lodge for a month at a time.

The instructor is said to work with the Duke of York using chanting, massages and holistic therapy according to The Sun.

A source told The Sun: "The treatment, it must be said, is very expensive.

"While the Queen was always happy to indulge her son over the years, Charles is far less inclined to fund such indulgences, particularly in an era of a cost-of-living crisis.

"Families are struggling and would rightly baulk at the idea of tens of thousands paid to an Indian guru to provide holistic treatment to a non-working royal living in his grace and favour mansion.

"This time the King saw the bill for the healer submitted by Andrew to the Privy Purse and thought his brother was having a laugh.

"In the past these types of expenses would be signed off no questions but that is not the climate in the new era."

Last month it was reported Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson had been left "distraught" as King Charles slashed a pivotal grant that helped his brother upkeep his mansion.

A source said: “It feels as though his brother wishes to evict him.”

However, Prince Andrew intends to call his brother's bluff by refusing to leave his mansion according to the source.

The Duke of York would want the millions of pounds he spent on upkeep of the Royal Lodge to be reimbursed to him before leaving the property.

The source told the Mirror: "He [said] he's not leaving, there is no chance that will happen and even if the King wanted him how would that work?

"The King won't evict him so there is no chance it will come to that."

The source added: "If he [the King] wants to spend millions reimbursing him for the money he's already spent on the property, that's another matter."
